Behind the brand
I am Miriam (Mim) a teacher, tutor and adventurer and I’m excited to be able to help your child to reach their potential through 1:1 bespoke online tutoring sessions.A little about me:In 2013, I graduated from Plymouth University after completing a four year Bachelor Of Education and began my teaching career in Cornwall. During my time at University, I furthered my educational creativity with drama and music and combined with my energetic, enthusiastic and approachable personality, brought my classes' learning to life.Since then, I have taught in Oxfordshire, South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire and across the whole primary stage taking on additional responsibility such as being the leader for writing and part of several senior leadership teams.Back in 2017, after four years of teaching full time, I decided to explore the world and broaden my own horizons so I could enrich those of the children I teach. I moved to Thailand, teaching in a Thai government school followed by an International school in Chiang Mai.I gained a wealth of knowledge and understanding in how to support children with English as an Additional Language (EAL) as well as discovering the wonderful differences in cultures, traditions and practices which I love to share with my pupils now I am back in England.Alongside teaching, I enjoy travelling to new countries, hiking up mountains, singing in my local choir and modelling lifelong learning by taking on new hobbies such as rock climbing! However, since my return to the UK in 2019, I have noticed a change across the schools I have worked in: funding cuts, larger class sizes, increased levels of children with special educational needs per class without the necessary support required for them to feel successful, let alone the ever growing pressure on the curriculum which is leading children to feel despondent about education. Unfortunately it is often their own talents, creativity and achievement are no longer have time to be celebrated. But don’t despair… tutoring can help! Through 1:1 tutoring, I can give your child the time they deserve to feel successful, to be celebrated and to be championed to achieve the best of their ability.Tutoring allows me to build strong relationships with your child, unpick misconceptions, address areas of weakness, work at their own pace, instil confidence in their ability and make learning exciting again!
